Paper published in IEEExplore - UAV based Topographic Survey of Inaccessible Remote Terrains
🌏 Excited to share our latest publication in IEEExplore titled “UAV based Topographic Survey of Inaccessible Remote Terrains”. This research took us to the uncharted Velliyamkallu island (White Island) off the coast of Kerala, where we faced the formidable challenge of accessing and surveying one of nature’s hidden gems 🚤🏝️.
🚁 Utilizing UAV technology, our team embarked on a journey that included navigating the open ocean, transferring between boats, and setting up operations on this no-man’s land. The rough seas and remote nature of the island required precise planning and robust technology. 📊🌊
The results? Beyond satisfying! We achieved detailed topographical data that could pave the way for sustainable development, balancing ecological preservation with potential uses such as maritime relay points and emergency hubs for fishing vessels. This project not only tested our limits but also highlighted the invaluable role of UAVs in remote terrain exploration 🌐🔍.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. RAMANA MURTHY V MALLAVARAPU, Director of the National Centre for Coastal Research (NCCR), for his encouragement and steadfast belief in the practical applications of our research.
