Delivering my first-ever lecture on UAVs and their applications.

A First Experience to Remember! 🚀

Last week, I had the opportunity to deliver my first-ever lecture (1hr 45min) to bachelor’s students on UAVs (Drones). It was a hybrid session with 10-15 students in the classroom and 20-25 online participants - making it both an exciting and a unique learning experience for me.

While preparing for this lecture, I made it a priority to draw from my past project experiences to give students real-world examples of UAV applications which is reflected in my lecture title, ‘From Coastlines to Railways: Practical Insights into UAV applications’. I shared insights from projects like sand dune mapping, railway line surveys for wildlife safety, object detection on UAV imagery, and environmental monitoring. This approach helped connect the theoretical aspects of UAVs to tangible problems and practical solutions.

To keep the session interactive, I incorporated Mentimeter for live questions, and I was happy to see an 80-90% response rate till the very end - a sign of how actively students stayed engaged!

Covering topics like UAV types, flight planning, mapping workflows, and regulations, my goal was not just to teach concepts but to demonstrate their real-world relevance.

Grateful for this opportunity and the positive interaction with such an enthusiastic group of students! Looking forward to many more teaching experiences where I can share knowledge, inspire learning, and grow alongside.
